Frequently Asked Questions
This section contains some frequently asked questions about the
Balanced keyboard.
Can I buy one from somewhere?
There is no manufacturer producing the Balanced keyboard. However, you
can easily re-arrange the keys of many electronic keyboards into the Balanced
keyboard layout - see the Build
one section of this website for more details.
Isn't the term "Balanced" already used to refer to
keyboards with balanced hammer actions?
Yes it is. However, the exact terminology is 'balanced hammer action
keyboard' rather than 'balanced keyboard'. Nowadays it is more widely
known as 'weighted action' - the term 'balanced' is more known to piano
experts than the general public. When deciding on a name, many other
potential names, such as 'uniform' and 'symmetrical', were already used
to describe other keyboard designs. So 'Balanced' it became!
Isn't this website an updated version of the one which
was at
www.balanced-keyboard.com a number of years back?
Yes, I had an older version of this website live back in 2003-2004.
However, because of other commitments I'd not maintained it, and when the web address expired, it was grabbed by
one of those web portal advertising companies for a while.
However, they obviously got tired of it and let it go, and I now have it back.
I've tidied up the overall style a bit for this new version of the website.
