Basic chords
All of the following are root position. The standard pop/jazz chord notation is shown in brackets, using the example root letter of C. There are two mirror-image shapes for each chord, one for a bottom-row starting note and one for a top-row starting note. These chord shapes are the same across the whole keyboard in all keys.


Major Triad (eg C)


Minor Triad (eg Cm)


Diminished Triad (eg Co or Cdim.)


Augmented Triad (eg C+ or Caug.)


Major 7th (eg Cmaj7)
